In our Science unit on "Plants Grow and Change", we conducted an experiment to show us what the different parts of a plant do.  We put some celery stems in a jar of colored water.  We predicted what we thought would happen to the celery.  We looked at the celery the next day and noticed the leaves turning red.  We then predicted again what we thought would happen to the celery if we left it over the weekend.  On Monday,  We noticed the leaves were more red. We concluded that the leaves were turning red because the stem of the celery sucked up the red water and carried it to the leaves causing them to turn red.  We also looked at the little tubes inside the celery and noticed that they too we red because of the water.
